Ford Motor Company cut its all new minivan into pieces for the Beijing Auto Show (June 22-30). On display at the Ford booth, the cutaway Ford Windstar highlights key Ford designed automotive components and systems.
Some of the high technology features on display include: the electrical and fuel handling system, climate-control systems, automotive glass, plastic and trim, and electronic and audio systems. For example, one cross section of the display highlights the Windstar’s fuel and handling system, where viewers will see the engine and chassis placement and its relation to the electrical components that provide power to the vehicle, and direct the flow of fuel for engine efficiency.
Another cross section of the vehicle demonstrates the climate-control system. Windstar’s unique system provides passengers in the rear seats with their own set of climate control buttons to regulate temperatures within their area.
Automotive glass is also highlighted within the display. Ford installed solar tinted windows to reduce driver glare and keep cabin temperatures and lighting at comfortable levels for passengers. Viewers will see the color, texture, and thickness of this special glass.
Windstar seats have been assembled with premium cloth for durability and comfort and placed them in an interior that is designed to promote a quiet ride. Showgoers will witness the durable construction of these plastic and trim materials when looking at the display.
The Windstar is also loaded with electronics which provide remote keyless entry, power windows, interior lighting, a high quality stereo system and much more. Focusing on this highlight, visitors learn how Ford’s electrical systems enable the vehicle to monitor itself. Through digitized computer chips, the car in essence, talks to itself about low fuel, engine trouble or driving conditions requiring headlamps. It’s technology that enables drivers to better enjoy their vehicles and better concentrate on the road.
