Some of you
have heard about upcoming organizational changes here at the Institute that
will affect the way in which English and other intensive language programs on
campus are offered and promoted. As it happens, this series of changes leads to
a major one for me: as this current session of the Intensive ESL Program ends,
on March 1, I will no longer be associated with the Monterey Institute.
Over the
past 18 years, I've been student, faculty and staff member at the Institute,
and have in every role and task been challenged and stimulated by the work we
do here, the people we meet, and the issues we confront. I trust that as time
goes on, the Institute will continue to make its unique mission and strengths
an integral part of the global scene.
Over the next few weeks, I'll focus on the particulars of the transition. I also hope to meet with many of you one-on-one to reminisce and acknowledge with gratitude and affection all the good things that come with working together over time.
